Thanks to support from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, the 2023 –2024 Invasive Phragmites Control Fund strives to support approximately fifteen to twenty-five projects. For applications to be considered, a minimum funding request of $2,500.00 is required, up to a maximum request of $10,000.00.

Award recipients will agree to provide project updates, stories, and photos to be used by the Invasive Species Centre and other Green Shovel Collaborative partners to communicate project outcomes and raise awareness about Phragmites in Ontario. Award recipients agree to acknowledge funding and report on specific key performance indicators used to communicate project outcomes to grant funders and the Green Shovels Collaborative partners.

Award recipients also agree to be responsible to obtain any permits or approvals required, and assume any liabilities associated with their project. Please be mindful that some phragmites management activities require permits and special permissions. We would also encourage applicants to consider alternative methods of phragmites management, including integrated management techniques.
